Barbara (Animal Magnetism) Fanime 2k1 worn at fanime 2k1... i got the idea from mike/malachite when he said he was making a "secret" animal magnetism group... so there was nana and barbara left... "ou, i'll choose barbara because she looks like a challenge" ^^; i wanted barbara to look really fancy... like to sparkle out... so i bought material that was shiny ^^; the skirt and vest fabric was $1 per yard... =D and both were made in one day... with a pattern i made by myself not much to it you know? ^^; instead of um... the leathery looking hanging things, i decided to use those tassle-dropping things because they look more fancy and i like the way they hang and swing around when you move ^_^ accessories included the gloves >_> $1.99 at a korean accessory store with great necklaces, earrings, hair stuffs... *huggles* ^^; the fake nails i wore were also shiny... painted dark purple and covered with glitter nail polish... glitter shininess was my concept for this costume ^^; the necklace... the gold wrapping is actually a gold choker looking thing from next to the korean accessory store, and i added on the "jewel" part and feathers. took me about half an hour to make. I had a wooden oval thing, nail polished it blue, then glitter nail polished, glued gold trim underneath it like a frame, then wired that to the necklace. the feathers were tied together with wire, then also attached to the jewel the hat was one that chris bought from target during halloween for his BSB A.J. costume ^^; i made the skull from model magic foam/clay stuff, painted it with pearl grey nail polish, the eyes with purple nail polished. poked holes on the sides and glued the feathers into it. glued all of that to the gold trim, then attached that around the hat ^_^ ... the tail... i wanted to look tall for this costume... so my tail looked really long... so enter my 6" edea heels ^^; helped me look longer! yup! well the fabric i found for it was from jo-annes now sure what it's called... but it was on sale for 50% off and i had a coupon for "if you spend this much you get this much off"... so i bought it... i was in love with the fabric ^^; the whole tail was shaped with chicken wire, covered with basting for texture and soft feel... basically first part of the tail was wrapped around my legs... with chicken wire as the frame, which had hooks in the back to make the front more curvular instead of straight line down, then the tail "skin" was all one piece which was easy to zip up around my legs the back part of the tail was constructed on a stool... yes a stool, with wheels on the bottom of it, so it could roll around with me whilst i was walking... problem... only problem with that... worked perfectly at home... when i took it apart and crushed everything in the suitcase... it ruined some of the shape of the tail, and when it was put together in the mess that was fanime 2k1, the basting kept falling and some of it got stuck in the wheels making it immobile at times... i do want to wear this again at a con... it's just very hard to walk in ^^;
